The grand finale

In the final chapters of my book, Nicolas Flamel is captured by Niccolo Machiavelli and he is taken to the Alcatraz Prison. He is held hostage inside a cell. There are stories told amongst the Alchemist that lots of spirits wonder through the cells of the prison. Flamel is trapped in there alone with all of the spirits. At least he thought he was alone, but he hears a voice, a woman’s voice. When he finally sees the woman’s face he realizes it’s his wife Perenelle, she had been kidnapped years ago and Nicolas had been searching for her for years and finally he had found her. What had happened was that she was moved once a month from place to place so that Nicolas could not find her but 3 months ago they just stopped moving her and left her there in Alcatraz. That coincided with the exact time that he and the twins started to be followed by Niccolo Machiavelli. While this is happening Josh, one of the twins. Is tempted by Machiavelli.
“I’ve seen her survive worse, much worse.” Said John

In this part John is talking to Scathach and he is telling her about his plan to trick Machiavelli so that she and Sophie can rescue Flamel. But Scathach is worried that she and Sophie would be more vulnerable if he left. But deep inside she knows it’s the only way to rescue Flamel and to end with Machiavelli. Josh knows it’s not going to be easy but he knows he is strong enough to end with all of this and finally bring some peace for all of them.

“Can he really awaken my powers”, said Josh

One of the most important things for Josh right now is awakening his powers because he feels kind of useless because he has no powers, or they haven’t been awakened up till now. He was sent to find something and he ran into Machiavelli. At first he was at a defensive state and threatened him. But as all of the Magicians he has his special power that he can do better than anyone. And Machiavelli’s power is temptation or suggestion, kind of what Jedi’s do on star wars with their hand. But he doesn’t need the hand or anything, all he needs is words. Josh did the brightest thing he could ever have done. I believe this was the most intelligent decision of the entire book. He pretended he had been convinced by Machiavelli to join his side and in exchange he would take him to someone to awaken his powers. But the truth is he did this so that his sister and Scathach can rest and rescue Flamel.

In the end of the book Flamel is rescued by Sophie and Scathach, while Josh is fighting brutally with Machiavelli. In the middle of the fight josh is exhausted and has taken a big hit by Machiavelli. The magician says to john, “you are practically useless without powers, you know that right. Everyone in your little gang has a special contribution and you, all you do is delay them.” Josh listen to this words but instead of start questioning if he was right or not, what he does is get inspired with his words and he does something that no one had ever done before. He unlocked his powers all by himself and his powers turn out to be as twice as powerful as Machiavelli’s powers. So he easily defeated and killed Machiavelli. The dark elders where watching this and Josh left a message for them, the message said that if they were ever harmed or even bothered again by them they would end up just like Machiavelli.

In conclusion I did like the book and the ideas that they use and the creativity that the author has to create this awesome book and all these wonderful characters. But what I didn’t like was how he concluded the story, I don’t know why but it seemed like it was a little forced because everything was solved in a very small amount of time.

Keep on going

In the following chapters of my book, “The Alchemist." Nicolas Flamel finally joins the twins and Scatchach. But he doesn’t come alone, he visited her friend and she recommended that he searched for an allied. Because it would help them a lot for protection, he tracked down another magician called Cond de saint Etienne. When he meets the twins and Scathach and he presents their new allied, Scathatch immediately objects strongly and doesn’t trust him. But Saint Etienne finally wins her trust when they are found by Niccolo Machiavelli one of the dark elders and he protected the twins while Scathach was knocked out with a hit. Every time they get attacked they luckily find a way to escape. But not for long because while they were exhausted after an attack Flamel was captured and taken to the Alcatraz prison in San Francisco.

“He didn’t know how far he had run, miles probably.”

In this quote we can see that it is very dangerous when they get attacked because they are not prepared or just don’t have the strength to stop them anymore. After taking lots and lots of attacks and running away and little rest, they are exhausted. When you are exhausted you can’t fight as well as you can when you rest. Sophie’s power is also affected by this because she is using pretty much all of her strength and she is only recovering half of her strength. Josh is also affected because he can’t fight as good as he normally does.

“The blade actually shivered in his hands.”

In here we can see that Josh is not only exhausted after a fight but he is also shivering from the fear of being attacked and the stress he has. In this part Sophie is also scared and tired every time more and more. Clearly there were signs that they just can’t hold up anymore, but why not run away and rest for a little. That sounds like a very simple thing to do for the reader. But the truth is that they are scrued because the dark elders have blocked all the possible exits. All the portals and all the transportations. That’s the thing that is keeping them trapped in paris.

Everyone is tired and feel very scared and insecure with what is going on: the attacks and all the ground they have lost. every time they get weaker and weaker and also more easily defeated. The real question is how long can they hold up to the pressure.

As the story develops...

In the follow up chapters of the book the twins and Scathach separate from Nicolas Flamel. Because Nicolas went to look for an old friend that can help them because they need shelter and information about the dark elders. They have reached the city of Paris and they need to stay there. They are being looked by Niccolo Machiavelli that works on the police force in Paris, so all the police in Paris are looking for them. They can’t just stay in a hotel because they would ask for passports and they don’t have any, because they travel through these types of portals that connect cities all around the world.

“Nicolas Flamel paused on the Rue Beaubourg and turned slowly, pale eyes scanning the street. He didn’t think he was being followed but he had to be sure.”
This quote is talking about how Flamel is going thru the streets in Paris trying to track down her friend to get information about everything in Paris. From addresses of secure spots, to allies he could trust. Even the locations of the portals in Paris. He knows that he has to be extremely careful because if he gets caught, the twins are basically lost and would have to run away as fugitives.

“Forget everything you know about swords fighting.” Said Scathach
In this part of the book Scathach is trying to teach Josh how to fight with a sword. Because this would be very useful to them, it meant more protection and response if they got attacked. But he thinks its super easy because he has seen lots of movies and TV shows that have made him think this way. This is why Scathach tells him to forget about all of that.

In these chapters the twins have stayed undercover and have had good luck up to this point. With Scathach help they have managed to not be found by the police or the dark elders. In the other hand Nicolas Flamel has located his friend and has gathered all the information he needed. But with a few incidents like being attacked but he managed to get away.

Where it all began

The book I am reading is called, "The secrets of the immortals Nicolas Flamel, The Alchemist." The book talks about this man called Nicolas Flamel that is immortal. During all of his years of existence he has learned many professions and many languages. He is recognized to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest Alchemist. Being an alchemist means being a wizard or a sorceress. Nicolas Flamels job is to protect two twins called Sophie and Josh. Flamel has a very special quality, or talent. He can see the color of peoples aura. Only very talented and kind magicians like him have a gold aura. But he found Josh and Sophie, two twins that have the goldest and purest auras he has ever seen. This is why he takes them with him, to guide them and nurture them.

“I know the names, but I don’t know who they are.”  Sophie said.
What this quote means is that in the book Sophie got the memories of a good friend of Flamels, a witch. So what this quote is saying that she sees faces of people in her head and she knows the names of this people. But she has never met them, it’s the witch who knew this people and has met them. Just imagine if this happened to you, I personally go nuts because I will start to desperate.

“It sounds like you’ve had a tough life, “Sophie said quietly.
Sophie is talking to Scathach, a warrior who is also with Nicolas and the twins for protection. She has had a tough life as Sophie said because she had many losses when she was very young. After this she turned into this dark and serious person. She has been of a very good use in protection for Nicolas and also for fighting. If you are wondering who do their fight, the answer is other immortals that are called the Dark Elders.

These chapters have been basically to introduce the place where the story takes place, the characters and the circumstances in the story development. Up to now we can really see who is the protagonist and the antagonist. The protagonist would be Nicolas Flamel and the twins. The antagonist would be Niccolo Maciavelli and the Dark Elders.
